Inline with this requirement Exelwebs will also now require you to verify your email address for any top level domain you register as well as for any contact information updates to make to your domain.
The email will look like this;
"As of January 1, 2014, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has mandated that all ICANN accredited registrars begin verifying the WHOIS contact information for all new domain registrations and Registrant contact modifications.
Who are ICANN?
ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Name and Numbers) are the global authority that co-ordinated the function and distribution of domain names.
Who does this effect?
As far as we can tell from the little information that exists from ICANN this change should only effect domains ending in .com, .net or .org. However we would encourage all domain owners to contact Exelwebs should you have some concerns.
What if your website has already been suspended?
You will need to start the verification process by clcking the link in the email you received from ICANN. If you deleted the email or can't find it. Submit a support ticket with Exelwebs as soon as possible to se can initiate the verification process again.
Please be aware that many phishing scams may surface taking advantage of this situation, we urge you to confirm any email you receive with Exelwebs before acting upon it.
